VACATION

Sooo this has been one of the best winter breaks. I seriously have not done anything this past month and it's been wonderful. I have been doing little doodles/drawings but that's about it. Pretty much been sittin on my ass watching a lot of Law & Order SVU. I've also been discovering a lot of new music to help me get through this upcoming semester. Let me just say that I, like any other music buff, enjoy my guilty pleasure music. I just can't say no to the catchy pop hooks of Britney Spears, Girls Aloud, Namie Amuro, Christina Aguilera, etc. However, I do think pop needs more substance than just that. Now thanks to artists like Sam Sparro, Santogold, Lykke Li,Annie, Ladyhawke there is hope for that. I've been listening to those three a lot her lately, especially the latter three. Simian Mobile Disco is another that I have been listening to. If you like Justice of Daft Punk check these dudes out. "Sleep Deprivation" and "I Believe" are my favorites. I've also been getting back into hip-hop again as of late. Lil Wayne, T.I., Lupe, M.I.A., A Tribe Called Quest, and many more have been some artists I have been playing. Oh and I have just discovered the wonderful album "Modern Guilt" by Beck. Absolutely brilliant. I need to get more of that guy's shit. Anyway, definitely check out Annie's "Heartbeat" and "Greatest Hit". Also, Ladyhawke - Paris is Burning and Sam Sparro - Too Many Questions. Lykke Li - Breaking It Up is another to check out. Oh and I finally moved my music to my external. I still have a good amount on my mac but it's all backed up now:). So all in all this has been a very productive vacation. Can't wait to get back into the game on Jan. 26.

Ok so I gotta get better at updating this damn thing. Basically I've got one final on Monday in French I, a kid's book due on Tuesday, and a portfolio due in my Op-Ed projects class. After Wednesday, I will be able to breath. I can't wait. It will be so nice to be able to sit on a Sunday and just watch movies or TV instead of being swamped with work. I don't even really care about Christmas. So I am going to try to update this thing at least once a week seeing as I haven't updated in 2 months. Whoops!

Yeah I need to get better at this...well here is my rant on how much I can't stand my fucking sister as of right now:
As of right now: My sister.
She comes over, eats all the food, takes over my tv and labtop, talks all sorts of shit, and stays practically all night at my house bugging the shit outta me. Then when I retaliate with her shit talking, I am being a drama queen and selfish and loud. Oh and than she has the audacity to tell me to keep the noise down cuz my dad has worked from 7 yesterday morning to 2ish this evening. Ummm, ARE YOU KIDDING???? Then my parents decide to side with her in saying that I have no patience. What the fuck?!?!?!!!! She has her own apartment yet she is over every other GODDAMN day starting shit and talking shit. My aunt used to do the same thing and it annoyed me too. I just wanna say to her,"GO THE FUCK HOME!!!!!!!!!" UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....sorry I just had to get that out.
Oh and as far as music goes. I have been in a Namie Amuro mood as of late. Yeah she has the bad English but her songs are so fun and catchy. Good guilty pleasure stuff. I've been in a STYLE/ Queen of Hip-Hop mood lately. I need a break from PLAY. If you are interested check out her greatest hits album: BEST FICTION. M.I.A., The Police, Tokyo Jihen, Shiina Ringo, and Radiohead have also been in heavy rotation. Oh and Coldplay too. Saw Radiohead recently and loved it. If you get the chance to see them live DO IT!!!!! It also makes up for the fact that I won't be seeing NIN this time around:(, and I have heard nothing but good things about the shows and line-up for the tour. Well that's it for now.
EDIT: Oh and big congrats to Michael Phelps for kicking all sorts of ass in the Olympics! Props to the rest of the team as well!

So not only did we finally get to hear Utada Hikaru's "Fight the Blues" but a whole new NIN album came out just last night.

1. Utada Hikaru - Fight the Blues:
    All I have to say about this song is "HOLY SHIT" . This is the song blows everything she has done in the past year out of the water. I mean everything from her voice to the beat and the synths in amazing. THIS is what she needs to be releasing as a single. I love Hikki I do but she is starting to get a bit stale. That's why I really can't wait for her to work on her English album. I really think that will get her creativity going again. I just can't get over how good this song is. I mean it's like an evolution of her Pre and Post ULTRA BLUE era. I'm telling you if she had just released this, "Kiss&Cry", and "HEART STATION" as singles and trashed everything else for new songs, I might be a bit more excited for this album. I just feel like the single this time around are not that great. I now have faith that she can make a comeback.
    Also while we are on the subject....what's with the obsession with "Deep River". Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic album but I definitely don't have an orgasm over it like most of her fans. I personally think "ULTRA BLUE" is her best album by far and I don't give a shit what anyone says. I'Il agree that her recent stuff hasn't been all that great but I still love her experimental/electronic sound. I feel like so many people spazz out over DR and automatically assume that she is going to make DR Pt.2. Deep River was in 2002 people....let it go and move on.

2. Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I - IV:
    This was a total shocker to me last night. Here I am doing my homework for Sequential Projects and I check back on the official site and it says "2 Hours". I check back in 2 hours and after a half-hour of trying to load the album; "New album out NOW". I practically shit my pants in my room. I tried to get it from nin.com but all the crazy fans were clogging up the servers and as a result I was forced to go to Amazon.com to download it for $5 bucks. I really want the $10 2-CD set and the $300 one would be heaven on earth but it ain't gonna happen. As far as whether ot not I like it, I do like it. I love that it's all instrumental because I have been getting into bands like Explosions in the Sky and World's End Girlfriend a lot here lately. Also, I love all of NIN instrumentals so to have an entire album full of them is amazing. I don't have a favorite, so far I just really like 04 Ghosts I and the entire album:).

Damn this semester is pushing to the brink and it's only been 2 weeks!!!! I have got a paper due next week, 2 paintings, and a shitload of gaouche to buy by next Tuesday. Man I hate being an art student. Not too mention my Typography class is boring me to tears and I still have the whole semester to go. But in one thing I am pumped for is tomorrow. I'm staying in Boston again this weekend so that should be a nice break. But that doesn't stop me from having to go to the AIB library after work tomorrow to research my paper... :(. Oh well.

Usually when a semester starts up I am on top of my work for the first couple of weeks and then I start to fall behind. Looks like it's the opposite this semester. I should totally be doing work that is do on Tuesday but instead I find myself surfing the internet, listening to music and watching season 2 of Stargate Atlantis. Not cool. I definitely gotta get it together because this semester looks like it's going to be very intense work wise. In other words, I gotta get my ass in gear like now.
Also, I seriously can't stop listening to "HEART STATION", the new single by Utada Hikaru that has leaked. I absolutely love it to death!!! I think it's one of the best songs she has come out with since "Keep Tryin'". I still don't really like "Stay Gold" that much but "HEART STATION" is amazing. It's given me hope that she still has it in her. The only other song that made me feel that way was "Kiss & Cry" I dunno I just feel like here lately her singles have been mediocre at best. "Flavor of Life (Ballad Version)" was bearable as well as "Beautiful World", I loved the Antidote Mix of FOL but other than that I have been kinda disappointed in her. I still love her as an artist but I just can't wait for her to come out with her English album cuz I think that will jump start her creativity again. However, I am biased because I love her "Exodus" and "ULTRA BLUE" material a lot more than her earlier stuff. I'm more excited about her English album than I am about her upcoming Japanese album. Anyway, I highly recommend you check out "HEART STATION" if you haven't heard it. Can't wait to see the PV for it.

Boston It Is!

So after all the bullshit I am still going to Boston tonight!!! My mom was like "Well you need to ask your dad to see if it's ok" I went and asked him and he totally didn't give two shits. "As long as your careful and you have money, yeah you can go." is what he said. I started laughing just because my mom made such a big deal about it and my dad could care less as long as I am safe. I don't see what the big deal was anyway. I'm probably not gonna drink or anything because classes start tomorrow and I have to work in the morning as well. Not too mention I would already be up in Boston anyways so that way all I had to do was get up and go to class instead of taking a train for an hour 7:00 in the morning. I really don't understand the woman at all and quite frankly I can't stand her most of the time....
Anyways I have been getting into BoA here lately. I got into her though her song "LOSE YOUR MIND". I think that's one of the best songs that she has come out with. I've recently gotten her "Outgrow" and "Made In Twenty(20)" albums and I have to say I like them a lot. Yeah it's generic R&B/Pop but it's so much fun to listen and dance to. She has a decent voice a lot better than Ayumi Hamasaki. Also, I'm not a big Leah Dizon fan but I love her song "Missing" off of her album "Destiny Line" I haven't gotten around to listening to the album but I remember people raving about this song so I decided to try it out and I really like it. I wasn't big into her other singles, I felt they were a little too sugary pop for me, but if there are any other tracks like that or in the same vein. I wanna here them. It sounds like she has potential seeing as she writes her own music.

Going to Boston?

So my friend's birthday is tomorrow and she is having a party. I said that I would come up and celebrate with her. Now my mom is saying that she doesn't know if she will let me go because "she doesn't have any money". What a crock of shit, she has a good couple of hundred dollars in the bank and then some. Not to mention she gets paid this week. I don't see what the issue is. I'm not gonna be doing anything that requires money. I just don't get it. She wants everyone to sit in the house and be miserable like her. I don't wanna do that and neither does my sister. I rarely get to do anything as it is because I always feel that me going out with my friends cause too much drama in my house for some reason. Every time someone decides to go out in the house she always has to object in some kind of way. I'm 19 for god's sake!!! I need to live a little and stop acting like an old woman. Life is too goddamn short for that shit.

Older Siblings = PAIN IN THE ASS

    I love my sister, I do more than anything in the world. I would die for her if I could. However, hear lately I wanna kill her. I mean first off she is 26 and she is still living at home with me, my mom, and my dad. I wouldn't pay any mind to this if she wasn't making as much money as she does but the woman brings home almost 1200 bucks every 2 weeks. She could easily save her money but chooses to waste it on stupid bullshit. Also another major fault of hers is that she is CONSTANTLY trying to tell everyone in the house what to do. She has all sorts of suggestions for us but whenever we try to make a suggestion to her it's like the greatest insult known to man. She has no respect for anyone in the house and is constantly putting people in my house down.
     So last night I was pretty drunk. I was having a good time with my family and whatnot and here she comes with the condescending talk. Now due to the fact that I had a few drinks I went off on her. I told her everything that I just said below. Than she got pissed at me and sad how ungrateful I was and basically called me a piece of shit. Now we aren't talking and I kinda like it that way. Honestly I think it's time for her to get the hell out. She really just needs to leave and get out on her own. I can' wait until that happens...
    On a more positive note. I have fallen in love with Olivia Lufkin. You may know her from the NANA soundtrack but her material outside that project is awesome. It took a long time for me to get into her. She has some really good lyrics and an amazing voice. I recently got a lot of her material and I have to say I am impresses. I personally think "If You Only Knew" is one of her best songs and both of her studio albums are awesome. Definitely check her out!
